Welcome!
I’m Jamelia (also known as Jam) and I’m a Full-Spectrum Doula (FSD), currently awaiting my certification through Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings (BADT). I’m originally from the Chicagoland area and moved to the West Coast in 2016… from California to Washington in 2021, and relocated to Yakima, WA in 2024 with my partner and our two cats, Princess and Mila.
I’ve always been interested in finding a vocation where I can help my community. From navigating my own health journey, to supporting my friends and family on theirs, I saw my calling take shape.
In addition to my doula certification, I am an herbalist (pursuing her certification in clinical herbalism) and currently enrolled in a course to become a functional nutrition specialist. I chose these disciplines to better support my clients with their needs that may present themselves through every part of their pregnancy and birth journey.
-
Bringing the party lights and speaker to your birth room
Making you tea and snacks
Bringing over homemade baked goods fresh out the oven
Taking care of baby (and older kiddos) while you get some rest
Helping out with laundry
Holding space for you to feel whatever you need to feel
…and so much more.
I provide whole person care, focusing on the mind, body, and spirit connection.
I value clear communication and transparency above all else. My goal is to support all my clients across their journey to grow their family, whatever that may look like for them. I consider myself a doula for pretty much everyone, but it’s important to me that we mesh well with each other. I support all families, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folks.
If you have questions or would like to work with me as your doula (or connect if you’re a birthworker!) feel free to follow me on Instagram @sb_doulacare.
